法合可知。謂前說觀行，理趣分明。今復諮詢，恐涉非分，故先立理，請更投機。

The application to the Dharma can be known. That is to say, the previously explained contemplative practice was distinct and clear in its doctrinal purport. Now inquiring again, he feared exceeding his proper bounds; thus he first establishes the principle, asking that [teachings] again be suited to capacities.
