此翻云止，定之異名，寂靜義也，謂於染、淨等境心不妄緣故。若準《涅槃經》釋，即名能滅、能調、寂靜、遠離及能清等。結云：以是義故名為定相。

This is translated as 'cessation' (zhi); it is an alternative name for meditative absorption (samādhi), meaning quiescence, indicating that regarding defiled and pure objects the mind does not falsely grasp at conditions. If explained according to the Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra, it is called capable of extinguishing, capable of subduing, quiescent, distant departure, and capable of purifying, etc. It concludes: 'For this reason it is called the mark of meditative absorption.'
