Not grasping illusions, illusions are quiescent. Not grasping the mark of stillness, the mark of stillness is extinguished. It is not that one intentionally stills or extinguishes them. Furthermore, it is simply the true mind and real principle, not set in opposition to stillness or illusion. Thus the Laṅkāvatāra says: "Quiescence is called the One Mind." This is not the quiescence of halting motion, nor an extinction after arising; hence it says "internally give rise to".
