唯獨自明了，餘人所不見，故他不及。自己心識之量亦不能造，如螢燒須彌，必須離情方契，故自不及。又依體起智為自，根塵發識名他。不可識識、智知，故皆不及。

Clearly understood by oneself alone, not seen by other people; hence others cannot reach it. The measure of one's own mind and consciousness also cannot arrive there—like a firefly [trying to] burn Mount Sumeru, one must transcend sentiment to tally with it; hence oneself cannot reach it. Moreover, relying on the essence to give rise to wisdom is "oneself", while sense faculties and dust giving rise to consciousness is called "others". It cannot be cognized by consciousness or known by wisdom; therefore neither can reach it.
