恐聞瞋喜是我，便擬忍受不瞋，用為無我，故推徵云：若見彼是毀人，我被彼毀而不瞋者，此亦是我。故云：「若知我空無毀我者，既見有毀我者，則未得我空。」亦應云：「若知我空，無我說法。」故次云。

Fearing that upon hearing that anger and joy are the self, one might plan to endure without anger and take that to be selflessness, it therefore deduces and investigates: If one sees that the other person is a defamer, and that I am defamed by them yet do not become angry, this too is the self. Therefore it says: 'If one knows that the self is empty, there is no one who defames me; since one sees that there is someone defaming me, one has not yet attained the emptiness of the self.' It should also say: 'If one knows that the self is empty, there is no self preaching the Dharma.' Hence it says next:
