前云終不成就者，以佛無我愛，凡有我愛故云云。見勝進嫉妬，亦由我愛，由我愛故下云。
The earlier statement that they will never achieve success is because the Buddha has no love of self, whereas ordinary persons have love of self; hence the sūtra states this. Giving rise to jealousy upon seeing superior advancement is also due to love of self; because of love of self, it states below:
