一、明請問之意。如人有子，病者偏憂。菩薩大悲，先哀末世。賢聖隱沒，正法將沈，欲令廣益當來，是故懸興此問。次下正請問。前皆有我相，未可施功。今既障除，方堪修習，就此運用復有是非，故須依師，免溺四病。

First, clarifying the intent of asking. Just as someone with children worries especially about the sick one, a bodhisattva with great compassion first pities the final age. Because the worthy and holy are hidden away and the true Dharma is about to sink, wishing to broadly benefit the future, he proactively raises this question. Next below is the formal question. Previously there were marks of self, so effort could not yet be applied. Now that the hindrances have been removed, one is finally fit for cultivation, yet regarding this application there are still right and wrong ways; hence one must rely on a teacher to avoid sinking into the four defects.
