以初迦字為體（作也）以夜暗之中多有恐怖及諸過患，為欲除彼無明黑暗中長夜諸障垢等怖畏，故說此真言也。
Taking the initial syllable *kā* as its essence (making it), because in the darkness of night there is much terror and various perils, in order to eliminate those fears of long-night obstacles and defilements within the darkness of ignorance, this mantra is spoken.
