次作大護印。准前如來藏印，申二水指令指頭相柱如峯，其二火指頭亦相拄而稍屈，微如蓮環之狀。又開二空指，相去二寸以，下即是也。真言曰：

Next is the Seal of the Great Protection. Based on the Tathāgata-garbha seal above, extend the two water fingers, joining their fingertips like a mountain peak; their two fire fingertips also touch each other and are slightly bent, subtly in the shape of a lotus garland. Also open the two space fingers to be about two inches apart; that is it. The mantra says:
