Regarding "Then Vajrapāṇi, on the level of the body, speech, and mind of Vairocana Tathāgata, arose to the contemplation of the equality of the dharmadhātu": because this bodhisattva is able to know the mysteries of the Tathāgata's body, speech, and mind, he is called the Lord of Mysteries. The teachings of the Tathāgata's mind mystery can only be thoroughly realized between Buddha and Buddha. As it is with the mind, so one should know it is with body and speech as well. Now this bodhisattva is also able to know them; one should know that his stage is equal to the Great Awakened One, but in order to deliver sentient beings, he manifests as a bodhisattva to inspire and prompt [the teaching]. Here, the body mystery refers to the various mudrās: just as in the fourfold great maṇḍala, each deity has their own secret mudrā. If one observes this bodily mudrā, one immediately knows the secret virtues represented by this deity, with immeasurable kinds according to the differences of superior, middling, and inferior categories. The speech mystery refers to the mantras belonging to the deities; upon hearing this mantra, one immediately knows the inwardly realized virtues of this deity. The mind mystery refers to the yoga visualization of the deity, which also differs according to the directions of the fourfold tiers; when in correspondence with this, one enters the treasury of the Tathāgata's mind mystery. In this, the mysteries of body, speech, and mind span from the stages of buddhas and bodhisattvas down to the two vehicles, devas, and the eight classes, with immeasurable distinctions. Discussed extensively, they differ as numerous as the dust motes of ten worlds; discussed concisely, as the stages represented in this sūtra, they all represent the virtues of the Tathāgata's secret body, speech, and mind. If one can know them as they truly are, one is equal to the Lord of Mysteries. Now, Bodhisattva Lord of Mysteries abides in the contemplation of the equality of the dharmadhātu, and mindful of future sentient beings, wishing to cause everyone to tear apart the great net of doubt, he spoke the King of Great Mantras before the Buddha. As the text states, it may be understood. The mantra says:
