Next, the Buddha said: "Lord of Mysteries! Such clauses of study, if a bodhisattva trains in them according to what exists, then they will practice together with all buddhas and bodhisattvas; they should train in this way." The śrāvaka is called 'closely conforming' because of proximity to that Buddha's precepts and the like; here, one is equal with the Buddha. As for the clauses of study in which the bodhisattva trains, acting in common with all the buddhas, bhagavats, and bodhisattvas, and in which one ought to train: these three of the body, four of speech, and three of the mental ground are precisely the clauses of study of all bodhisattvas and the bases of training for all bodhisattvas. This is precisely the precept of adapting to sentient beings of all bodhisattvas, and adapting is precisely acting in common with them. Furthermore, all buddhas and bodhisattvas practice in this way; because all bodhisattvas naturally ought to practice thus, now I also practice thus, which is having common deeds with all buddhas and bodhisattvas (inquire further). This intrinsic precept naturally accords with practice; thus the Nirvāṇa [Sūtra] says that by nature one is able to uphold the precepts.
