2.24

經云「復以此施與器量高德者，是第四葉種」，謂已能習行慧捨，藉此為因，漸能甄擇所施之境。如此之人德行高勝，我今宜應親近而供養之。即是慧性漸開，遇善知識之由漸也。

The sūtra says: "Further giving this to those of noble capacity and high virtue is the fourth: the leaf seed." This means that having already become accustomed to practicing wise giving, relying on this as a cause, one gradually becomes able to select the field of giving: "A person like this has lofty and superior virtue; I should now draw near to them and make offerings to them." This is the gradual unfolding of the nature of wisdom, the gradual cause of encountering good spiritual friends (kalyāṇamitra).
