第四「云何慈心？謂隨順修行慈法」者，此慈亦是與嗔相違。愛見心垢之慈，非善種所生也。上慈字據內心，下慈字是外相所為事業。既覺知已，但治妨道之失，轉轉修慈無量心，即是對治。

Fourth: regarding "What is the mind of loving-kindness? It means according with and cultivating the dharma of loving-kindness": this loving-kindness is also the opposite of anger. It is a loving-kindness defiled by attachment and views, not produced from wholesome seeds. The first character 'loving-kindness' refers to the inner mind, and the second character 'loving-kindness' refers to the activities performed in external manifestations. Once this has been perceived, one merely remedies the fault that obstructs the Path, continuously cultivating the immeasurable mind of loving-kindness; this is its antidote.
