2.45

第十六「云何阿修羅心？謂樂處生死」者，阿名為非，修羅名天，以其果報似天，而行業住處不同，故以為名也。此知有解脫之利，但深樂生死果報快樂，不能進趣。若行人有此相貌，當知名修羅心。亦由先世曾生此趣，故有此習也。觀察無常苦等，是彼對治。

Sixteenth: regarding "What is the asura mind? It means delighting in dwelling in saṃsāra": 'a' means non, and 'sura' means deva; because their karmic retribution resembles that of devas, but their actions and dwelling places are different, they are named thus. This [person] knows that there is the benefit of liberation, yet deeply delights in the happiness of the retribution of saṃsāra and is unable to advance. If a practitioner has this appearance, one should know that it is called the asura mind. It is also because of having previously been born in this destiny in past lives that one has this habit. Contemplating impermanence, suffering, and the like is its antidote.
