As for the fiftieth, “What is the noose-like mind? Its nature is to abide in the bond of self at all times”: Just as a person bound by a noose cannot move their limbs or joints, this mind is likewise: it falls into the bond of the self of annihilationist views. This view can bind the practitioner's mind, so that everywhere they are constantly restrained by it and cannot free themselves; it is the heaviest of hindrances. Having recognized it, one should swiftly use the knife of correct wisdom of dependent origination to sever and remove the covering hindrances; this is the antidote.
