2.82

第五十三「云何田心？謂常如是修事自身」者，如人有良美之田，常修治耕墾芸除莣穢，種種方便令得清淨。此人亦爾，常好修事其身，以香花滋味等灌塗奉養，務令光潔嚴好。覺知已，常念迴此功力修事其心，以如是諸供養具播植福田資成勝果，是彼對治。

As for the fifty-third, “What is the field-like mind? It refers to constantly cultivating and serving one's own body in this manner”: Just as someone with a good and fertile field constantly cultivates, plows, weeds, and clears away the overgrowth and impurities, using various skillful means to make it clean, this person is also like this: they constantly like to cultivate and tend their body, smearing it with perfumes, flowers, rich flavors, and the like, and making offerings to sustain it, making it their business to keep it radiant, clean, adorned, and fine. Having recognized this, they should constantly resolve to redirect this effort toward cultivating and attending to their mind, sowing the field of merit with such articles of offering to aid in accomplishing the superior fruit; this is its antidote.
