3.44

偈云「真言勢無比，能摧彼大力，極忿怒魔軍，釋師子救世」者，意言：雖無定相而具一切威力，能伏諸魔制諸外道，開甘露門轉大法輪，一切人天見如是迹，故號為釋迦師子救世間者。如見烟知火，故當信受也。

The verse says: / "The power of mantras is incomparable, / Able to destroy that mighty, / Utterly wrathful demonic army; / The Lion of the Śākyas saves the world": / the meaning is: although it has no fixed marks, it possesses all mighty power, able to subdue all māras, control all non-Buddhists, open the gate of nectar, and turn the great wheel of Dharma. All gods and humans see such traces, and therefore he is called the Lion of the Śākyas who saves the world. Just as seeing smoke one knows there is fire, so one should faithfully accept it.
