4.43

The sūtra says: 'Furthermore, on another day, adopting those who should be saved' and so forth, down to 'giving them scented water to drink so that their minds are purified', which explains the components for adopting, establishing, protecting, and sustaining disciples. Having received and upheld the ground, next on the following night one should perform the ritual for disciples, hence it says 'on another day'. Because of this, it extensively distinguishes the marks of disciples who should be saved.
