In the fifth section, from 'Next, again generating an elevated mind' onward, refers to the activities in the place of reciting sūtras outside, after leaving the bodhimaṇḍa. 'Guanshi' (Observing the World) is the name of the bodhisattva. 'Lotus' refers to the lord of the Padma family. 'Eye' is the gateway of the eyes of all Buddhas. 'Empowerment of intrinsic nature' refers to the deity's seed syllable, mudrā, and so on. This is the seed hṛdaya-mantra gateway of Avalokiteśvara: SA represents all outflows; with two visarga dots at the side it becomes AḤ, dispelling all outflows. Observing without outflows, one is therefore sovereign (īśvara). This is the mantra gateway of Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara. Next, Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara enters the Samādhi of Universal Observation; abiding in this equality, there is nowhere it does not pervade, which is called 'universal entry'. Because he observes sentient beings with this universal eye, he is called Avalokiteśvara. Having entered this samādhi, various lights emanate from his heart, and in the lights these Dharma-gate mantras appear.
