From "Namo to the Buddhas of the ten directions and the three times" onward is the third, the mantra gate of the upāya of taking refuge. Outside of the wisdom of this mantra there is no delusion; where there is no delusion outside, that is the mantra. If one recites this mantra with one's own body and awakens to one's own reality, it is therefore called taking refuge. There is also the recitation of the mantra. In the verse, namo means "deliver me", and also "homage and reverence". "The three eternal bodies" are the three bodies: the dharmakāya and so on. Awakening to the unproduced nature of birth and death is therefore called the eternal body. In "the treasury of the true Dharma", "true" excludes the erroneous, "Dharma" means model or rule, and "treasury" contains virtues numerous as the sands of the Ganges. "The assembly of great mind" refers to the Bodhisattva vehicle.
