父母妻子是恩愛之深者，世人以捨麁重恩愛為其至道，而不知修行見愛尚是妄心，故審問之，後方推破。
Parents, wives, and children are those of deep affection and love. Worldly people take renouncing coarse and heavy affection and love to be the ultimate path, yet they do not realize that the love based on views in cultivation is still a deluded mind. Therefore [the Buddha] closely questions him, and only afterwards analyzes and refutes it.
