破妄意欲顯真故，略標宗嘆德，令其忻慕，豈謂徒然譴責，罔知所歸。於是阿難伏而諦受。

Because the refutation of delusion is intended to reveal reality, [the Buddha] briefly indicates the essential doctrine and praises its virtues, prompting him to yearn for it; how could it be merely scolding, leaving him with nowhere to turn? Thereupon, Ānanda prostrated and attentively received it.
