長安三年，則天罷政，中宗嗣位，是歲改為神龍元年。龍集者，龍星，亦曰歲星，歲行一次也。集，居也。乙巳即所舍之次。朔，蘇也，月死復蘇。蘇，生也。

In the third year of Chang'an, Zetian stepped down from governance, Zhongzong succeeded to the throne, and that year was changed to the first year of Shenlong. 'Dragon-gathering' (longji) refers to the Dragon Star, also called the Year Star (Jupiter), which moves one station each year. 'Gathering' (ji) means dwelling. Yisi is the station where it lodges. 'New moon' (shuo) means reviving (su): the moon dies and revives again. 'Reviving' means coming to life.
