阿難白佛言：「世尊！我亦聞佛與文殊等諸法王子談實相時，世尊亦言：『心不在內、亦不在外（引教文也。）』如我思惟，內無所見，外不相知，內無知故在內不成，身心相知在外非義。」

Ānanda said to the Buddha: "World-Honoured One, I have also heard the Buddha, when discussing the real mark with Mañjuśrī and the other Dharma princes, say: 'The mind is not inside, nor is it outside.' (This cites the scriptural text.) As I reflect, inside there is nothing seen, and outside there is no mutual knowing. Since there is no knowing inside, being inside is not established; yet body and mind knowing each other makes being outside incorrect."
