This directly reveals it. Sentient beings receive bodies and transmigrate in the five destinies, unable to fathom the initial limit, hence it says "beginningless." Gathering conditions and stirring within, rushing and running toward the external, is therefore called "climbing upon conditions." Creating good and evil causes, experiencing bitter and sweet retributions, dying here and being born there—all are due to this mind, hence called the "root." Failing to understand that it is false, once deluded into taking it as the mind, they are determinedly confused into thinking it is within the physical body, hence it says "take as your self-nature." Alas! There is no worldly person who does not take this climbing, false mind as their true nature, grasping the false mind as the Buddha-mind, relying on this to cultivate, thereby increasing their arrogance even more. The *Nirvāṇa Sūtra* says: "Among these non-Buddhists, there is not a single dharma that does not arise from conditions; considering them permanent is entirely an inversion."
