本明周徧，含裹無餘，妙覺湛然，斯須匪離，步步是道，故云雖終日行。日用罔知，故云迷不自覺。真所謂持珠乞匃、懷寶迷邦，枉受淪躓，誠可憐愍。

Fundamental luminosity is all-pervading, encompassing everything without remainder; wondrous awakening is clear and calm, not departing for an instant, with every step being the Dao; hence it says "though they act all day long." In daily functioning they are unaware, hence it says "in delusion, they are not aware of it themselves." This is truly what is called holding a jewel while begging for alms, or holding a treasure while being lost in a strange land, vainly suffering drowning and stumble—truly pitiable!
