阿難白佛言：「世尊！我佛寵弟，心愛佛故，令我出家。我心何獨供養如來，乃至遍歷恒沙國土，承事諸佛及善知識，發大勇猛，行諸一切難行法事，皆用此心。」

Ānanda said to the Buddha: "World-Honoured One! I am the Buddha's favoured younger cousin. Because my heart loved the Buddha, you caused me to leave home. Why should my mind merely make offerings to the Tathāgata? Even traversing lands numerous as the sands of the Ganges to serve the buddhas and good spiritual friends, generating great vigor, and performing all kinds of difficult dharma-practices—all are done using this mind."
