若離前塵，無此分別，足顯分別宛是妄想。自性本無，屬於前塵，故可名為分別影事。如下文云「若真汝心，則無所去，云何離聲無分別性。」斯則豈唯聲分別心，分別我容，離諸色相無分別性。

"If, apart from the preceding dust, there is no such differentiation, this fully reveals that differentiation is truly false thought. Its intrinsic nature is originally non-existent and belongs to the preceding dust; therefore, it can be called a 'shadow-event of differentiation.' As a later passage says: 'If it were your true mind, it would have nowhere to depart; why then is there no differentiating nature apart from sound?' In this way, how could it be only the mind that differentiates sound? The differentiation of my appearance also has no differentiating nature apart from all visual forms."
