1.59

定能現化也。住首楞嚴，化復作化，普現色身，隨十界機宜，何身相現而說法，令彼度苦，解脫業惑，得自在故。《法華》所謂內祕外現，從法身地隨緣俯應，如一月不降、百水不升，慈善根力法爾如是。若非發迹之後，無如是歎，醍醐味教於斯現矣。

Their samādhi is capable of manifesting transformations. Abiding in the Śūraṅgama, transformations further produce transformations, universally manifesting physical bodies, according with the capacities and suitabilities of the ten realms, manifesting whatever bodily form to preach the Dharma, causing them to cross over suffering, liberate themselves from karma and delusions, and attain mastery. This is what the Lotus Sūtra calls "inwardly secret and outwardly manifest"; from the ground of the dharmakāya, according with conditions they bend down to respond, like the single moon not descending while the hundred waters do not ascend, the power of their roots of kindness and compassion being naturally so. Were it not after tracing their origins, there would be no such praise; the teaching of the ghee flavor is manifested herein.
