此縱破。設或汝許名為燈見；燈若有見，應名為人，不合名燈。又若燈見；彼暗中人得燈光時，不合名見，燈自見故。應知因燈見色，燈不名見；因眼見色，眼不是見。燈之與眼但是見緣，體非是見也。

This is a provisional refutation. Even if you grant that it is called the lamp seeing: if the lamp had seeing, it should be called a person, and ought not be called a lamp. Furthermore, if the lamp sees: when that person in the dark gains the lamp's light, it ought not be called [his] seeing, because the lamp itself sees. One should know that because of a lamp one sees colors, but the lamp is not called seeing; because of an eye one sees colors, but the eye is not seeing. The lamp and the eye are merely conditions for seeing; their substance is not seeing.
