旅亭，止客舍也。俶，始。前，進。遑，暇也。此明客義，怱怱不暇停住，喻分別煩惱數數造業，流轉五道，未曾暫息，三界旅泊受果始畢，又造新業，故云食宿事畢，俶裝前途。

An inn is a lodging house for guests. *Chu* (俶) means beginning. *Qian* (前) means advancing. *Huang* (遑) means leisure. This clarifies the meaning of a guest: bustling with no leisure to stop and stay, analogizing differentiated afflictions repeatedly creating karma and transmigrating through the five destinies without pausing even briefly; having just completed receiving retribution lodging in the three realms, one creates new karma again; therefore it says 'having finished lodging and eating, he packs his bags and takes to the road.'
