This cites skies freshly clearing, with the sun shining high and its light entering through a window chink, revealing the dust in the air, drifting without cease. This analogizes innate afflictions as subtle and hard to see; without the illumination of contemplative wisdom, one remains completely unaware of them. Arising together with the body and acting together with the mind, the substance of these afflictions is entirely arising and ceasing, false and unceasing. Both the host and space analogize the true nature's quality of being unmoving. At first the Buddha asked about awakening to the guest-dust, wishing Kauṇḍinya to clarify their characteristics, intending to guide Ānanda to hear and awaken to understanding, comprehending that true seeing is constantly still, while the body and objects fluctuate. Kauṇḍinya's analysis was thoroughly in accord with the Buddha's intention, hence [the Buddha] confirmed it, saying 'So it is.'
