將釋此經，十門分別：一、教起因緣；二、藏乘分攝；三、教義分齊；四、所被機宜；五、能詮體性；六、所詮宗趣；七、教迹前後；八、傳譯時年；九、通釋名題；十、別解文義。

Approaching the explanation of this sūtra, it is divided into ten gates: first, the causes and conditions for the arising of the teaching; second, its subsumption within the pitakas and vehicles; third, the scope of the doctrinal meaning; fourth, the capacities being addressed; fifth, the essence of that which expresses; sixth, the central purpose of that which is expressed; seventh, the sequence of the teaching's traces; eighth, the era of transmission and translation; ninth, a general explanation of the title; tenth, a distinct explanation of the text and its meaning.
