Nirvāṇa is named the sky of supreme truth; obtaining the forbearance of non-arising dharmas is called "a great and brilliant awakening". The brilliant awakening being near, it is therefore called "will have"; "will" means about to, intending to. "Just as when the cock crows a second time": when the cock crows a second time, the sky is about to dawn. The presence of the five aggregates is like total night; when the aggregates are all exhausted, it is like full daylight. When the two aggregates of form and sensation are broken through, it is like the cock's first crow: the sky has not changed at all. Now that perception and formations are also removed, only the aggregate of consciousness remains; brilliant awakening being near, it is just like the cock crowing a second time, when the sky has a refined light. If explained in terms of stages, this corresponds to a person of the second gradual stage. That text says: "When the prohibitive precepts are accomplished, in the world there are forever no karmas of mutual generation and mutual killing, stealing and robbery do not take place, there is no mutual debt and burden, and in the world one does not repay past debts." This is precisely what the present text calls "the profound pulse through which karma is repaid has its resonance suspended and severed". That text also says: "When this pure person cultivates samādhi, in his physical body from his parents, without needing the divine eye, he naturally views the worlds of the ten directions", and so forth. This is precisely what this text means by "looking toward the east there is already a refined light"; this is precisely obtaining the stage of resemblance, where the resemblance penetrations arise.
