'Fixed-nature' temporarily classifies them as fixed-nature based on their single-minded pursuit of quiescence without change; yet there are kalpas counted, and they will ultimately return to the superior vehicle. As for the 'unlearned monks,' failing to comprehend the aggregate of consciousness and mistaking it for nirvāṇa, they are identical to this. 'Perfect' means all-pervading, and 'refined' means not coarse; having already transcended the aggregate of formations to become the origin of all lives, it is termed 'perfectly refined.' Conforming to their false calculation, it is said: 'responding to the mind.'
