10.89

約義答問，略舉六義也。以不能定其道理，但兩楹答，故云亦生亦滅等。令彼前人於章句中不得義理，故云遺失章句。

Answering questions according to the meanings, he briefly adduces six meanings. Because he cannot establish the principle definitively, he merely answers equivocally from both sides, hence saying 'both arising and ceasing', and so forth. Causing that person before him not to obtain the doctrinal principle within the sentences is why it says 'to lose the track of the sentences'.
