如來知其魂慮變慴，心生憐愍，安慰阿難及諸大眾：「諸善男子！無上法王是真實語，如所如說、不誑不妄，非末伽梨四種不死矯亂論議。汝諦思惟，無忝哀慕。」

The Tathāgata, knowing that their souls and thoughts were agitated and fearful, gave rise to pity in his heart and comforted Ānanda and the great assembly: "Good sons! What the unexcelled Dharma King speaks are words of reality; they are spoken in accord with tathatā, not deceptive and not false, not like the four kinds of evasive and disorderly sophistries on immortality by Maskarī Gośālīputra. Ponder this attentively, and do not fall short of your sorrowful yearning."
