「若非明合，則見與明性相乖角，如耳與明了不相觸。見且不知明相所在，云何甄明合非合理？」

"If it is not joined with light, then the natures and appearances of seeing and light conflict with each other like horns, just as the ear and light do not make contact at all. If seeing does not even know where the appearance of light is located, how could it distinguish whether there is a principle of joining or not joining?"
