「若取耳聞，無動靜故聞無所成，云何耳形雜色觸塵名為識界？則耳識界復從誰立？」

"If you take the physical ear to hear: because movement and stillness are absent, hearing is not established. How could the fleshly form of the ear—which is mixed colour and tactile dust—be called the realm of consciousness? From what, then, would the ear-consciousness realm be established?"
