爾時，世尊告阿難言：「汝先厭離聲聞、緣覺諸小乘法，發心勤求無上菩提，故我今時為汝開示第一義諦。」
At that time, the World-Honoured One told Ānanda: "You previously grew weary of and detached from the small vehicle teachings of the śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas, giving rise to the aspiration to diligently seek unsurpassed bodhi. Therefore, I will now disclose the supreme truth for you."
