This clarifies true matter. The first line points to fundamental delusion; the three lines from 'within the tathāgatagarbha' onward reveal the substance of dharmas. The tathāgatagarbha is the one dharmadhātu mind, the Middle Way supreme truth. 'The nature of matter is true emptiness' is the ultimate within the conventional; 'the nature of emptiness is true matter' is the conventional within the ultimate. Stating 'nature' in both cases reveals the ultimate and conventional that are identical to the Middle. Thus, raising one fully possesses the three, and speaking of the three, their substance is one; being neither vertical nor horizontal, parallel nor separate, it is called the secret treasury. This is the true earth element. The two lines from 'pure' describe its virtues and magnitude: free of deluded correspondence and possessing undefiled dharmas, it is called pure; not being conditioned, it is said to be original; being nowhere absent, it is said to be all-pervading. Thus lineage, essential virtue, and essential magnitude are all fully complete. If one recognizes this dharma, one accomplishes the three wonderful contemplations, only then knowing that a single dust particle possesses all Buddha-dharmas, all mind-dharmas, and all sentient-being dharmas; none are not completely within a single subtle dust particle wherein one sees Vairocana. One directly sees oneself and directly sees all dharmas; as with a single dust particle, all dharmas are likewise so. What follows is based on this throughout. From 'according to the minds of sentient beings' onward reveals conforming to conditions: the ten realms of sentient beings differ in defilement and undefilement, their karma also differs, and the material dharmas they experience have distinct purities and impurities.
