The nature of the six sense faculties is also thus. The Hīnayāna mostly sets forth four great elements; only in the Mahāyāna teachings is the name 'space' first found. As for the faculties and consciousness being called 'great' together, this has not been seen in the scriptures. In the various perfect and real teachings, when contemplating all dharmas completely, the faculties, objects, and consciousness are all three ubiquitous and unmoving; though they have the meaning, they do not establish the name 'great'. Here it is uniquely set forth, truly serving as the final, ultimate model. The text has four parts: 1. Generally indicating the lack of independent nature.
