此下破空生。初二句審定不由根境也。非見下正破，前三句非見不辨四境破。非相下三句，非相不立五根破。相即是緣，四境既無，即所緣境滅；所緣既無，五根何有？上皆牒破不假根境也。

From here down refutes arising from space. The first two lines examine and determine that it does not depend on faculty or objective realm. From 'if it is not seeing' down directly refutes it: the first three lines refute by showing that without seeing, it cannot discern the four objective realms. The three lines from 'if it is not appearance' down refute by showing that without appearance, the five faculties cannot be established. Appearances are conditions; since the four objective realms are absent, the objective conditions are obliterated. Since the objective conditions are absent, how could the five faculties exist? All the above repeats and refutes not relying on faculty or objective realm.
