3.524

了，謂顯了，猶分明也。然，語辭也。明解在心，故云自知。獲，得也，迷妄名失，了悟名得。既言常住不滅，故非新得，但顯現耳。

'Liao' (了) means clearly evident, as in distinct. 'Ran' (然) is a grammatical particle. Clear understanding is in the mind, hence it says 'knowing it of themselves'. 'Huo' (獲) means to obtain; delusion is called loss, and awakening is called obtaining. Since it says 'permanently abiding and unceasing', it is not newly obtained, but merely manifested.
