破境生根也。初二句牒，觀空下破。此亦色空相對而破，此破色也。色既生根，觀空之時色已銷滅，從誰生根而了於空？又色能顯空，見空之時色已銷滅，從誰顯空？下色之一字，義含空能生見，例色應知。單破雙結，妙盡譯旨。

This refutes the object producing the faculty. The first two sentences take up [the view]; from 'when observing space' downward refutes it. This is also refuted by opposing form and space; this refutes form. Since form produces the faculty, at the time of observing space form has already dissolved and ceased; from what could the faculty be produced to comprehend space? Furthermore, form can reveal space; at the time of seeing space form has already dissolved and ceased; from what could space be revealed? The single word 'form' below implicitly contains the meaning that space can produce seeing, which should be known by analogy with form. Refuting singly while concluding doubly exhaustively realizes the translator's intent.
