4.139

Where people gather and can dwell is therefore called a village. The confused person is sentient beings. The village is the tathāgatagarbha. South is the brightness of the nature. North is that which is made clear. Confusion is avidyā. The mark of south does not move, yet due to confusion north is seen; the brightness of the nature does not change, yet due to delusion an object is established. This confusion emerges falsely; hence he now examines it to let him know that if non-arising is recognized, avidyā is originally empty.
