方，法也，即明等諸法。彼，即日等也。舉此諸相，以明七大相空，都無實法，虛空無相，不礙諸相顯發。

'Regions' (fang) means dharmas, namely the various dharmas such as brightness. 'Those' refers to the sun and so on. Adducing these various characteristics is in order to clarify that the characteristics of the seven great elements are empty and entirely devoid of real dharmas; empty space has no characteristics, yet does not obstruct the manifestation of the various characteristics.
