"Original nature" is spontaneity. "Combination" is causes and conditions. Neither is established, hence it is said: 'are both detached from.' This detachment is also detached from, hence it is said: 'are both negated.' The text here is brief; fully stated it should be: the detachment from combination and the detachment from spontaneity are also both negated. The medicine and the illness are discarded together, and the illness of emptiness is also emptied. The *Perfect Enlightenment Sūtra* also says: 'Detaching from what is illusory is also detached from; detaching from the detachment from illusion is also detached from. In this way, the path of words is cut off, and the sphere of mental action is extinguished; only then is it free from conceptual proliferation.'
