4.522

"Due to the two kinds of mutual blending, such as blandness and variation, within the wondrously perfect [nature] it adheres to the still clarity and generates tasting. The essence of tasting reflects upon flavor, intertwining flavor to become a faculty. The root of the faculty is designated as the pure four great elements, and is therefore named the body of the tongue. Resembling a crescent moon, the four dusts of the floating faculty drift out and rush after flavor."
