佛告阿難：「汝學多聞，未盡諸漏，心中徒知顛倒所因，真倒現前實未能識。恐汝誠心猶未信伏，吾今試將塵俗諸事當除汝疑。」

The Buddha told Ānanda: "You have learned much through hearing, yet you have not exhausted all out-flows. In your mind you only know the causes of inversion, but when true inversion appears before you, you truly fail to recognize it. Fearing that your sincere mind has not yet faithfully submitted, I shall now test by taking various worldly matters of dust to eliminate your doubts."
